“Bridging Broadway” is an initiative of Musical Theatre University (MTU), the renowned theatre-education and training program for performing-arts students sponsored by Palm Springs Unified School District, and housed at Rancho Mirage High School.  In this remarkable, community-supported effort, dubbed “Bridging Broadway,” MTU is mounting a professional original musical – “How The Nurse Feels” – for a limited run at The Davenport Theatre, on West 45th St. in the heart of New York’s theatre district.

This world-premiere production of "How The Nurse Feels"  features 14 graduates of the MTU program, three veteran Broadway actors, and is directed by celebrated actor-director Lucie Arnaz.

Impresario David Green’s Musical Theatre University (MTU) is celebrating its 16th anniversary and its sixth  season in The Coachella Valley.  It’s the only comprehensive, intensive Conservatory Program in the Inland Empire of Southern California, designed for young people with aspirations for careers in professional theatre -- specifically on Broadway.  Mr. Green's alumni include Tony Nominees Stephanie Block, Susan Egan, Matthew Morrison and Tony Award Winner Lindsay Mendez, and more.

In addition to core instruction taught by Broadway professionals, students of MTU have the opportunity to participate in professional-level, fully staged musical theatre productions  where students work alongside Broadway and Hollywood actors  in a three- to four-show season in the beautiful 600-seat Helene Galen Performing Arts Center.

Appearing in a legitimate, professional New York production provides the vital, yet often elusive, opportunity to be seen by the writers, composers, directors, agents and casting directors that can propel an emerging actor to success.  “Bridging Broadway” is designed to provide talented alumni of MTU that first “foot print” in professional New York Theatre that thousands upon thousands of emerging actors never receive.

Current MTU students, representing high schools from throughout the Coachella Valley, will learn hands-on about bringing a musical from "page to professional stage" by being immersed in the development of “How The Nurse Feels”. They will participate in table readings, staged readings, choreography development and an actual staged workshop production in preparation for the New York Debut.

The Alumni Cast of "How The Nurse Feels" will rehearse and present the show "out of town" in Palm Springs in May and early June of 2019. The production is scheduled for an Off-Broadway run in June/July 2019.
